Following the success last week of some superb A level results with many students winning places at Russell Group universities (including 1 at Durham, 2 at Bristol, 5 at Exeter, 3 at Cardiff, 2 at Surrey and 1 at Southampton), students at Teign School have achieved an excellent set of GCSEs with a strong increase from last year in the percentage of grade 5s and above for English and maths when compared to 2017.

Notable results include:

  • A student who achieved 1 grade 9, 6 grade 8s and 2 grade 7s
  • A student who achieved 2 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s, 5 grade 7s
  • A student who achieved 5 grade 8s, 4 grade 7s and 1 grade 6

Headteacher, Suzannah Wharf, commented ‘We are exceptionally proud of the achievements of the students at Teign. They have worked incredibly hard and deserve their success. I am delighted that the results show improvements from last year and this is testament to the efforts of the students supported by the incredible staff at the school. This year students have been the first cohort in sitting new 9-1GCSE examinations in most subject areas. I am pleased that our students have performed well at this time of change and increased challenge nationally to the GCSE system. Our students have shown great resilience and determination to succeed and I have absolute confidence they will continue to go on to do well whatever their future aspirations.’
