Teacher of Geography at Teign School, Madeleine Morgan, has had an article published in the Spring 2019 edition of the journal ‘Teaching Geography.’ The article was written by Maddi during her PGCE training year and was on the subject of harnessing student engagement. Within the article she reflects on a Geography lesson, teaching a year 8 class, where a modified boardgame was used to evoke emotions of frustration and excitement. The class then related their struggles of ‘making it around the board’ to that of development in the African continent (specifically Ghana).

Maddi commented that “I am very honoured that a strategy I have used in practice has been recognized as a medium for pupil engagement! I cannot wait to start writing my next article!” Since her article was published, she has received many emails from other trainee teachers interested in her methods and asking for guidance.
