On Tuesday 12th March, four Teign School students from Years 8 and 9 took part in the Regional Final of the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Team Challenge at Exmouth Community College.
Saffron Mitchell and Luke Pascoe from Year 8, alongside Ben Jenkin and Joseph Bond from Year 9, enthusiastically puzzled and calculated their way through four rounds of challenging mathematics. By the end of the day they were buzzing with confidence and satisfaction from their efforts. “I enjoyed it a lot. It felt great to be able to solve the problems”, said Ben. The team were a credit to Teign school and finished a fantastic 6th place out of 28 schools.
Teacher of Mathematics, Fiona Cox said: “It was inspiring to see how four students who didn’t really know each other before the day worked so well together to achieve such a good result.”
