For over three years, Teign School students have benefitted from members of our community giving their time to listen to our younger students read during their reading lessons. We currently have some spaces for new people to join our team; working in a supervised environment with students selected by teaching staff in our school library. Volunteers do need to apply formally and carry out an enhanced DBS/police check (paid for by the school).
If you are interested and could give us an hour or more of your time each week, then please get in touch with Jo Halse (Library Manager) via email Joanne.Halse@teignschool.org.uk or call her on 01626 883381 during term time to find out more. You don’t have to be connected with Teign School to get involved with helping our young people. Many of our current volunteers are retired and live locally or are gaining experience of working with young people with a view to finding paid work in schools in the future. Feedback from our volunteers suggests the work is very rewarding as you are helping students improve an essential life skill needed for success now and in the future.
