Work Experience
Work experience is a vital part of preparing our students for life beyond school. It offers the chance to step into the workplace, develop practical skills, and gain a real understanding of different career paths. By engaging with local employers and experiencing the world of work first‑hand, students build confidence, strengthen their employability, and discover how their learning connects to future opportunities. At Teign, we see work experience as an exciting milestone — helping every young person to explore, grow, and take their next steps toward a successful future.
All Year 10 and Year 12 pupils will complete work experience during the last week of the academic year. Year 12 pupils may be able to complete additional placements around their study programme throughout the academic year.
Work Experience is launched with students in Year 10 and 12 during the Autumn term, students are encouraged to source their placements, where possible, by the end of February to avoid competition from other surrounding schools.
At Teign we use the Unifrog platform and their placements tool, to log and process all work experience placements. Guidance on using this system will be presented to students and shared with parents and carers.
