World Human Rights Day

10th December 2020

Today, Teign is recognising World Human Rights Day. As a Rights Respecting School, we remain committed to upholding Article 29 of the UNCRC ‘Education must encourage a child’s respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures, and the environment.’

To mark World Human Rights Day, students have been given the opportunity to engage is several activities including…

  • A Virtual Student Summit by the charity ‘Since 9/11’ with the theme ‘Why is 9/11 relevant today?’ A chance to safely explore issues related to extremism (including the events of 9/11) and focus on how promotion of Human Rights can help to address the issue.
  • Amnesty International Group launch. Amnesty International is an organisation that campaigns for Human Rights across the world. We have created a group for students who want to explore this further as active citizens. Our first project will be 'Write for Rights'. Students will review cases of injustices from all over the world and write letters of support.
